Estrella Estate Wedding Photographer — Miami, Florida
I travelled to Miami from Germany for this celebration at Estrella Estate, a hidden gem tucked into the agricultural south of the city at the edge of the Everglades. A couple whose roots stretched across continents his heritage bringing warmth and colour and a particular kind of celebratory energy, hers bringing the easy American confidence of someone completely at home in her own happiness. Together, they made a wedding that felt exactly like them: relaxed, joyful, and genuinely alive from the first moment to the last.

Estrella Estate — The Venue
Estrella Estate sits at 14501 SW 232nd Street, in the quiet agricultural land south of Miami where the city gives way to open sky and the pace of things changes noticeably. It is not a venue that announces itself from the road — you arrive through gates, down a drive, and the estate opens up gradually: the gardens, the barn, the outdoor ceremony spaces, the kind of landscape that makes guests exhale and relax the moment they step out of their cars. The venue has a distinct character rustic and refined in equal measure. The wooden barn structure, the string lights, the open-air spaces surrounded by tropical greenery it is the south Florida version of the European finca aesthetic, and it works beautifully. There is a warmth to the materials and the proportions of Estrella Estate that produces a very particular atmosphere: intimate without being small, rustic without being rough. For a photographer arriving from Europe, it was a genuine pleasure. The venue reminded me in some ways of the Mallorcan fincas I work in private, rooted, with a sense of place that generic hotel ballrooms simply cannot produce. The light at golden hour, when the Florida sun dropped low and the warm evening air settled across the gardens, was extraordinary that particular quality of subtropical light that photographers travel for.

The Wedding — Joy at Full Volume
There is a moment in every wedding that tells you what kind of day it is going to be. At this wedding, it happened early — during the ceremony, when the groom saw his bride for the first time and his reaction was so immediate and so genuine that the entire gathering laughed and exhaled together. From that moment, the tone was set: this was going to be a day of real, unperformed, completely authentic joy.The ceremony itself was held outdoors in the estate gardens intimate, personal, conducted with the kind of warmth that only happens when a couple has chosen their words carefully and means every one of them. The guests were dressed in black, which created a beautiful visual contrast against the bride’s lace boho gown warm and relaxed and entirely her own.
The reception moved into the barn and the surrounding outdoor spaces as the evening deepened. The dancing started early and did not stop. The energy that the groom’s heritage brought to the celebration — the music, the movement, the complete willingness to be joyful without reservation — lifted the entire day into something genuinely special.
And then, as the night reached its peak: the sparkler exit. Two lines of guests, wands lit, the couple running through with raised hands and faces that could not contain what they were feeling. It is the image that ends this story
and it is, I think, the image that captures everything true about this wedding in a single frame.
Why This Wedding Matters for US Couples Planning European Celebrations
I am based in Germany and work primarily across Europe Italy, France, Spain, the Swiss Alps. But weddings like this one remind me of something important: the couples who choose me for their European destination wedding are often American. They find me through Instagram, through Wezoree, through the recommendation of a planner or a friend who has seen my work. And what they are looking for — the editorial eye, the quiet observational approach, the ability to find the moments that reveal something true translates completely regardless of which side of the Atlantic we are on.
If you are an American couple planning a destination wedding in Europe at a villa on Lake Como, a castle in Mallorca, a château in the south of France I would love to talk. I know these venues intimately. I know the light, the logistics, the rhythm of a European celebration. And I bring the same approach I brought to Miami: calm, present, unhurried, looking for the moments that are genuinely yours.

Estrella Estate — For Couples Considering the Venue
Estrella Estate is one of Miami’s most distinctive wedding venues particularly for couples who want something with genuine character rather than a generic hotel ballroom. A few notes from someone who has now worked there:The outdoor ceremony spaces are beautiful in the late afternoon when the Florida light softens and the tropical greenery catches it. Time your ceremony for an hour before sunset if possible.
The barn is the heart of the reception space warm, atmospheric, with the kind of lighting that makes everyone look wonderful and everyone feel at home. The sparkler exit is a Estrella Estate tradition for good reason. The courtyard in front of the barn doors is perfectly proportioned for it wide enough for two lines of guests, intimate enough that the couple is always close to the camera. Plan for it. It will be one of your favourite images. Golden hour at this location is exceptional the open sky to the west and the low subtropical sun produce a quality of light that rivals anywhere I work in Europe. Do not waste it. Build portrait time into your timeline for the 45 minutes before sunset.
